The words of German Ambassador to Armenia Hans-Jochen Schmidt that he, as well as the German people, give priority to peoples’ self-determination is evidence that he has gone deep into the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and is for a legally just solution to the conflict, Armen Martirosyan, an MP of the Heritage Party, told NEWS.am.

In his turn, Giro Manoyan, Head of the Hay Dat office, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARD-D), pointed out the fact that the self-determination principle is important for the Germans, as the Nagorno-Karabakh problem is more like forcible division of Germany than other conflicts parallels are often drawn with. “So I would not be surprised if the German Ambassador said his nationals attached greater importance to the self-determination principle,” Manoyan said.
