Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has two candidates for Yerevan Mayor’s post, namely Chairman of ArmRusgasprom Board Karen Karapetyan and Yerevan Acting Mayor Taron Margaryan, member of RPA Council Artak Zakaryan told the reporters on December 16. According to him, RPA Council’s meeting on December 16 will decide on the RPA nominee for mayor’s post.

“While nominating a candidate, his experience, functions and amount of work to be done are taken into consideration,” Zakaryan emphasized.

Zakaryan also stressed he does not hold information whether Armenian former President’s son Sedrak Kocharyan will be appointed Chairman of ArmRusgasprom Board, if Karapetyan is elected Yerevan Mayor. The parliamentarian noted he is even unaware whether Sedrak Kocharyan is a RPA member or not.

In conclusion, the MP stressed Republican Party has not yet made a decision on the expulsion of former Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan from the party.
