Social situation in the country keeps on deteriorating, inflation is unpredictable, whereas forecasts of the Central Bank are not realistic, Grigor Harutunyan, member of the Armenian National Congress, told the journalists today.  “Monopolists dictate their terms. It is a game, a preplanned policy. It means our authorities do not have state thinking,” Harutunyan noted, adding that migration of Armenian citizens is also the result of unsuccessful activities of the government.

Commenting on the Armenian-Turkish relations, the oppositionist said that football diplomacy was ruined. According to him, it unfortunately increased Turkey’s role in the Karabakh peace process.

As to recognition of Karabakh’s independence, Harutunyan considers it is wrong time to voice the issue. First political forces should agree on the issue and then only put it to the vote.  

“The Madrid Principles are defeat of our diplomacy. Self-determination principle is not priority issue for them. First they will speak of return of territories, then return of refugees, deployment of external forces and only then think about self-determination,” he added. Concessions are out of question until the Karabakh conflict is resolved, Harutunyan concluded.
