Armenia is still at war. True, the war is not along the border, but at the negotiating table. It can be hardly felt, but it is war, Hrant Margaryan, Bureau Chairman, Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnakstutyun (ARF-D), stated in Lebanon.

“At the same table are also the international forces disinterested in whether Nagorno-Karabakh is part of Armenia or Azerbaijan,” he said. They pursue their own interests, Margaryan said. “On the one hand, it is Azerbaijan and Turkey, oil and the Islamic world. On the other hand we and our hills, national unity or a split within the nation. We need solidarity and unanimity over Nagorno-Karabakh,” he said.

He slated the authorities’ actions, as they shattered unity. “Our Establishment have not their own people as a political support, but rely on other forces, ones pursuing their own interests,” Margaryan said.

He is also critical of the Opposition for “weakening unity.” “Holding high the banner of democracy and human rights they are seeking power. Their aim is not to improve the system, as the country’s political course is what is real for them. Sowing seeds of split within the nation also shatters unity,” he said.
