Members of Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) are going on a hunger strike tomorrow over the Armenia-Turkey Protocols.

ARFD bureau member, MP Vahan Hovhannisyan provided no information on strikers, September 14, merely saying the decision on strike has been made in the bureau office. One of the protesters’ demands will be resignation of RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan.

Asked why ARFD does not demand dismissal of the RA President, Hovhannisyan replied that under the Constitution, Sargsyan presented main stands of Armenian foreign policy, whereas the negotiations on Protocols were held by the executive power. “The President insisted on normalization process without preconditions, however the executive branch achieved having them mentioned in Protocols,” MP stressed adding that if the President does not make a relevant conclusions, he will find himself in an embarrassing position.

Hovhannisyan in confident, the ARFD protest actions will be supported by a large number of Armenians, passing the sponge over the fact of several hundred people on the recent party meeting devoted to the same problems.
