To date, Armenian National Congress (ANC) has overall positively hailed the Armenia-Turkey Protocols, Dr. Stepan Grigoryan, Chairman of the Board of Analytical Center on Globalization and Regional Cooperation (ACGRC) told NEWS.am.

He stated that ANC has some remarks on several Protocols’ provisions, “However, even if their position remains unchanged, it does not mean ANC be unable to prevent ratification of the Protocols. The utmost danger the documents will not be signed emanates from Turkish side. Considerable differences in opinions may rise at the discussions in Turkish parliament,” Grigoryan considers.

Commenting on perplexity of ARFD on the fact that Protocols will not be amended prior to ratification, Grigoryan said such procedure is the course of political discussions is not stipulated. He pointed out that amendments can only be made during the ratification, that is Parliament returns the Protocols to Executive body without approval.
Asked of the probability of non-ratification by Turkish side, Grigoryan replied that the likeliness is high despite the complex process of documents’ pass.
