RF Foreign Ministry declaimed against the statement by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, calling into question the fact of Holocaust. “Tehran’s attempts to negate Holocaust offend the memory of World War II victims and do not make for effective dialogue on Iranian problems,” stated Andrey Nesterenko, official representative of Russian Foreign Ministry.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated that establishment of Israeli state occurred on “mythical demand” and is a “lie”.

“The similar statements, wherever made, entrench upon the truth and are entirely unacceptable,” Russian diplomat said. “Attempts to negate Holocaust especially on the 70th anniversary of World War II offend memory of the victims and those struggling against fascism,” Nesterenko underlined. Such statements “do not contribute to a better international climate for the settlement and effective dialogue on Iranian issues.”
