On September 21, 2009 the first swine flu (A/H1N1) death was registered in Russia, Russian Vesti channel informs referring to Dmitry Lvov, Professor of D. Ivanovsky Institute of Virology in Moscow.

According to him the first victim was a female doctor who recently returned from Bulgaria. Within two weeks the patient’s health status deteriorated and she was taken to another hospital where she died.

According to Russian Federal Consumer Rights Protection and Human Health Control Service, a total of 381 cases of swine flu (A/H1N1) were registered in the country.
