Azerbaijan seeks to stand well with neighbors, but Armenia too has to take steps in this direction, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said Sept. 22 in the U.S. Harriman Institute at Columbia University, Trend.az informs.

Concerning Nagorno-Karabakh issue, Mammadyarov stated: “the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the main priority of Azerbaijan's foreign policy. Azerbaijan has such a geopolitical location that the solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not only important for its own development, but also for the development of the whole region.”

Azerbaijani FM underlined that only after the return of refugees to their homes “there can be any negotiations related to the status of the Nagorno-Karabakh.” According to him, Armenia and Azerbaijan negotiate on it.
