The results of the meeting between the American and Russian presidents Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev will not have a great impact on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution and neither on Armenian-Turkish relations, however some minor changes will take place, thinks Kiro Manoyan, Head of “Hay Dat” Office of “Dashnaktsutyun” Party.

Russia is interested in temporary delay of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue settlement, that will enable Russia to continue putting leverage upon Armenia and Azerbaijan, Manoyan added and commented on the upcoming visit of OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen planned on July 8, 2009: “OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen visit will be just another activation of the mediators before Sargsyan and Aliev meeting. It would be better for the Co-chairmen to visit this time Stepanakert.”

Manoyan also considers, that this year the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan will reach an agreement over Karabakh issue, but meanwhile, the chances of achieving any definite agreement in the course of July meeting are very low: “Even if they agree on a point, this will most likely happen under the pressure of Turkey and Russia. Ankara will have an opportunity to highlight the progress in Karabakh conflict settlement and continue Armenian-Turkish negotiations.”
