“There is no hasty political solution to Nagorno-Karabakh and Georgian problems,” Austrian Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger stated at the New York meeting with his Turkmen, Georgian and Azerbaijani counterparts behind the scenes of the UN General Assembly. “We need a new agreement on Caucasus,” he said, advising his colleagues to be more realistic.
“Presently, EU is the only international organization that conducts observation mission in Georgia, contributing to the maintenance of stability and peace in the region. We should be realistic, there is no hasty political solution either to Georgian, or Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Therefore, EU participation in the region is essential. Europe will never revert the eyes from its neighbours,” Spindelegger concluded.
