Police allowed the participants of a rally staged by People’s Party of Armenia to enter Liberty Square. A group of policemen first closed the entrance but after negotiations let the protestors pass to the square.
Participants of the rally gathered in the center of Yerevan today. In his address party’s leader Tigran Karapetyan said police had closed the roads from regions for people not to be present.
He announced the next protest action is scheduled for April 10.
The People’s Party is headed by Tigran Karapetyan, owner of the ALM media holding. The party is not represented in the parliament. Tigran Karapetyan is a 2008 presidential candidate. His ALM TV was denied a broadcasting license last December and went off the air in January.
