EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule will pay a visit to Armenia in April.

He will hold meetings with President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian, Secretary of National Security Council Arthur Baghdasaryan, as well as members of the EU Advisory Group.

The purpose of the visit is to confirm EU’s determination to enhance relations with the regional countries within the framework of EU’s Eastern Partnership project.

The Eastern Partnership project is meant to provide an institutionalized forum for discussing visa agreements, free trade deals and strategic partnership agreements with the EU’s eastern neighbors, while avoiding the controversial topic of accession to the European Union. Its geographical scope consists of Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine.
