The capital of Lebanon, Beirut intends to “warmly” welcome RA President Serzh Sargsyan, arriving on October 1 within the framework of Pan-Armenian tour to Armenian communities worldwide.

“According to the official information, Beirut will be next to last city of the President’s tour,” Shahan Kandaharian, Chief Editor of “Azdak” (Armenian paper of Beirut), told NEWS.am September 29.

“Prior to that, Wednesday, a demonstration under ‘No Turkish preconditions!’ slogan on Bourj Hammoud Square by ARF Dashnaktsutyun will be held. Besides, Armenian traditional parties made a statement expressing concern over Turkish preconditions,” he declared.

Kandaharian clarified that intention to create a historians’ sub-commission to discuss Armenian Genocide, recognition of Turkish territorial integrity, Treaty of Kars, Protocols’ provisions on recognition of third-parties’ territorial integrity and absence of a provision on nation’s right for self-determination – this is what stirs concern.

“Azdak” Chief Editor informed that press conferences, round tables and other events will be initiated in Beirut in the course of Sargsyan’s visit. “The debates will be hot,” he reckons.
