Turkey’s membership in EU should be off the Armenian foreign policy agenda, and the responses to all related questions should be brief. “This is the Europe and Turkey’s concern,” ARFD faction member Artsvik Minasyan told NEWS.am.

As per him, Armenia has a number of questions for Turkey concerning the recognition of Armenian Genocide and return of the lands. Armenia should solve its problems peacefully, raising them on international platforms as well. “It is Turkish people that should be aggressive to their authorities; our objective is to prepare that public and communicate,” the MP said. Speaking of the active diplomacy, first of all the communication with Turkish people should be established, which is a mainstream for our foreign policy.

He said that after April 22, 2009 Turkey turned its international obligations on opening the border into its own right. The sooner Armenian authorities realize this and quit the negotiation process, presenting Turkey as a party ineligible to settlement, the more it wins. Concerning the changes in statements tonality of the Armenian President speaking of Turkey, Minasyan concluded: “I hope that this is a step forward.”
