The Lachin corridor must be open for both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides, and Baku will never agree to its being used by Armenia alone, Araz Azimov, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani Presidential Representative for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, told reporters.

“A great many times we have heard that Armenia plans to maintain communication with the Armenian community in Nagorno-Karabakh by means of the Lachin corridor. This road is important for Azerbaijanis as well, as we cannot allow it to be used by one side alone,” Azimov said.

Addressing the possible operation of the Gabalin radar by Russia and United States as part of the dialogue over the ABM, he pointed out that official Baku is ready to consider both the sides’ proposals.

It is desirable that Azerbaijan get involved in the Moscow-Washington negotiations – if they are held. Any way, Baku has not yet received any proposals, he said.
