Speaker of the RA Parliament Hovik Abrahamyan received Chairman of the Belgian Senate Armand De Decker, who is on an official visit to Armenia.

The Public Relations Department, RA Parliament, informed NEWS.am that Speaker Abrahamyan thanked Armand De Decker for a resolution on the Armenian Genocide adopted by the upper house of the Belgian Parliament on March 16, 1998. The sides agreed that it is due to Armenia’s initiative foreign policy that the point encouraging Turkey to reopen the border and establish diplomatic relations with Armenia without any preconditions is becoming reality.

The sides also discussed regional and international security problems.

At the guest’s request, Speaker Abrahamyan outlined Armenia’s approaches to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and to relations with the neighboring states. The sides also addressed the global financial crisis and its impact on the two economies.
