Oct. 1 session in Turkish Parliament opened with President Abdullah Gul’s speech. However, the oppositional Republican People’s Party (CHP) MPs did not stand up when the president entered and did not applause after his speech. Abdullah Gul took it normally, however Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced oppositionists’ irreverent attitude towards the President. It is a dishonorable deed, Erdogan outlined adding it was the most woeful spectacle in the Parliament ever.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc named their behavior unstatesmanlike.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Republican People’s Party protests against Turkey’s policy to settle Kurdish issue and establish diplomatic relations with Armenia without Karabakh conflict settlement. Before entering into diplomatic relations, Armenia should recognize Kars Treaty and admit Turkey as a guarantor of Nakhchivan, repudiate the Genocide recognition policy and make concessions on Karabakh conflict resolution, Leader of the party Deniz Baykal stated.
