At his meeting with journalists, Raffi Hovhannisyan commented on his resignation as Parliament member and later return. “Realizing the law grants me this right, the strong and weak points of this step, I decided to return,” Hovhannisyan said.
Responding to a remark that, in resigning as Parliament member, Hovhannisyan pleaded national problems, and put forward the same argument in returning to Parliament, which of his decisions was “more national,” the Heritage Party leader said: “I have said why it is a matter of principle for me, why I did not want myself and the Parliament to be share the guilt for that. However, due to some essential changes in the situation, I came to realize that, as a person and citizen, I can change my mind. I think that there has been a national problem or a problem of principles. Rather, since the opposition is not fully united, I think it requires my presence than absence.”
