October 2, Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsman’s office was enabled a full member status under the Executive Board of the European Ombudsman Institute decision.
It proves this organization is adherent to a different value system and is beyond political environment, RA Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan stated at the Oct. 2 press conference.
NKR Ombudsman underlined that he was happy to learn of the fact, adding that Ombudsman’s office opened in Karabakh “under the imposed war on NKR.” The Ombudsman expressed gratitude to those contributing to the office membership in European Ombudsman Institute, noting that the process was hindered and lobbied, though luckily all obstacles were overcome.
Armen Harutyunyan was unaware whether South Ossetian and Abkhazian Ombudsmen also joined the Institute and promised to provide information after Institute’s regular session, commencing in Italy tomorrow, October 3.
Ombudsman was elected by NKR National Assembly on April 16, 2008.
