Armenian rescue services are on full alert and ready to provide damage control assistance for Sumatra aftermath, RA Ministry of Emergency Situations Spokeswoman Susanna Abrahamyan told NEWS.am.

Indonesian authorities called international community to render aid to the earthquaked Sumatra Island.

As reported earlier, on Sept. 30, 2009 at 5:16 p.m. local time 7.6 point earthquake struck Sumatra, the tsunami warning was issued. Padang city was almost obliterated as 75% of buildings collapsed. Another 7 point quake rocked the island Oct.1, 154 kilometers North-West of Bengkulu province.

Over 1000 people have been reported dead.
