Yesterday, RA President met with the representatives of Diaspora from different European countries in Paris.

Serzh Sargsyan called the participants to establish open dialogue “to hear out the concerns of Armenian communities.” “I would like to compare them with those I am passed about and check out whether there are aspects not taken into account or uncanvassed, or maybe we imprudently pull the plug on solution to certain issues,” Sargsyan underlined.

RA President again ruled out the possibility of preconditions in the establishment of Armenian-Turkish relations and emphasized that negotiations were held and progress in the frames of same format.

According to him, the Protocols “presently enable the limited sideline for the talks, but create mechanisms for the discussion of current issues with their possible solution thereupon.”

Commenting on the stance that Protocols’ signing and formation of historians’ sub-commission might discredit the fact of Genocide, RA President stated: “I do declare without any ‘ifs’ that it is impossible. The only thing we can discuss it is how to help Turkish people to be more impartial towards their history.”

Touching upon Turkey’s possible use of Armenian-Turkish reconciliation to exert pressure on Karabakh issue, Sargsyan said: “Talks on Karabakh conflict settlement are held in the frames of the stipulated format. The Protocols are not linked with Karabakh peace process in any way. They contain not a scintilla of it. Our stance is unambiguous: the matter on Karabakh settlement cannot be in the scope of Armenian-Turkish relations. It is Armenia’s compelling stand. Even more, Karabakh peace process requires major efforts giving rise to suppose that the signing of peace agreement is chimerical in the near future.”

It is the first meeting of the RA President within the framework of Pan-Armenian tour, commenced October 1. Today Serzh Sargsayn left for New York to meet the American Armenians.
