Washington may build its missile defense system in Georgia assuming the U.S. regional interests, Georgian expert Ghia Nodia deems.

He told journalists, U.S. strategic interests in the region and threat of terrorism make establishment of missile systems in Georgia real.

Alexander Vershbow, U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs (ISA), few days ago again mentioned Caucasus as a possible location of American missile system deployment. However he did not pinpoint Georgia.

“U.S. has an opportunity to use Georgia’s territory, and its strategic interests quite allow them to do so,” Nodia maintains.
