YEREVAN. - The health state of world champions in weightlifting Nazik Avdalyan and Yuri Vardanyan is satisfactory, Armenian Health Minister Harutyun Kushkyan told reporters on Thursday.

The minister noted that he had visited the athletes at the hospital. He expressed hope they will soon recover. According to him, Nazik Avdalyan is to undergo a serious rehabilitation therapy. Thereafter, it will become clear whether she will return to competitive athletics or not. Kushkyan assured Avdalyan does not need additional operations abroad.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, Nazik Avdalyan has undergone a spinal fixation (vertebral) surgery recently. She had a car accident in Armenia, on Gyumri-Vanadzor highway, near Jajur village. She was taken to Gyulbenkyan hospital in Gyumri. Avdalyan suffered a spinal fracture and received an injury of bone marrow.
