Today, October 5, Elizabeth H. Blackburn (Biologist, Australia), Carol W. Greider (Biologist, U.S.) and Jack W. Szostak (Biologist, U.S.) won the 2009 Nobel Prize in medicine for discovering a key mechanism in cell-genetic operations advancing research into cancer.
The Prize in physics will be awarded October 7, Chemistry — October 8, Literature — October 8, Peace — October 9, Economy — October 12.
The award ceremony will be traditionally held in Stockholm and Oslo December 10 – day when Alfred Nobel passed away.
The Nobel Prize Fund informs the prizes will total 10m. Swedish krona, which is about 1m. Euro per nomination.
