The RA President Serzh Sargsyan had a phone conversation with his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama, initiated by the White House. Sargsyan arrives in L.A. in the framework of his Pan-Armenian tour.

U.S. President expressed his support to Armenia’s efforts in Armenian-Turkish relations’ normalization. He reaffirmed the official position of Washington, that is the reconciliation should be held without preconditions and not linked with Karabakh conflict settlement.

Serzh Sargsyan accorded a thank for the assistance in Armenian-Turkish rapprochement. He talked about impressions of his Pan-Armenian tour, emphasizing that concern of Diaspora is natural, considering the Genocide issue, repeatedly mentioned by the U.S. President in his speeches.

The RA President also expressed gratitude for the weighty contribution of the U.S. to mediation attempts of OSCE Minsk Group on Karabakh peace process. Sargsyan outlined Armenia’s readiness to advance in peaceful settlement of the conflict. The key aspect of the process is to determine the final status of Nagorno-Karabakh through a free expression of populace will, underlying in the Madrid Principles proposed by Minsk Group.
