Armenian men’s Mika chess club was defeated for the first time in the European Club Cup 2009 in Ohrid (Macedonia). Russian club Economist beat Armenian grandmasters 2.5:3.5. Mika could not avoid failure even after Levon Aronian’s victory over Yevgeniy Alexeyev. Presently Mika shares 4-9 places, having 8 points. The leaders are Economist and Alkaloid-10 points.
Meanwhile women’s Mika club gained the first victory in the tournament, defeating BAS Beograd (Serbia) 3.5:0.5.
