Official Yerevan will make a statement on Armenia-Turkey Protocols’ signing, October 10, 2009. If the process develops according to the planned scenario, the documents will be signed on October 10, 2009, RA Foreign Office Press Secretary Tigran Balayan said.

The statement will be broadcasted on all the Armenian channels.

October 9, NEWS.am correspondent arrived in Zurich where the Protocols are to be signed. RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu will sign the document in the University of Zurich. According to the world mass media, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, RF Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of France Bernard Kouchner and Secretary General of the Council of the European Union Javier Solana will attend the event as well.

Turkey broke off diplomatic relations with Armenia and closed its border in 1993. Armenia’s blockade by Turkey has been aimed at supporting Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and exerting pressure on Armenia in the Genocide international recognition process.
