As previously reported, communication with two contract soldiers of a military unit of Armenia was interrupted on Sunday; but as a result of search operations carried out in severe weather conditions, they were found on Monday.
Unfortunately, the life of one of them could not be saved, while the other—whose condition is assessed as severe—is receiving the necessary medical care at the Central Clinical Military Hospital.
The Military Police have prepared a report on the incident.
And according to the information obtained from the report, at around 9am on March 20, these two soldiers had left an outpost in order to get cigarettes and fuel, and gone to another outpost located about 1.5 km away. But due to the worsening weather, they had to stay there. And when they were returning the next day, they had gotten lost in a severe snowstorm, and were unable to reach their outpost.
The Military Prosecutor's Office has filed a criminal case regarding this incident.
The criminal case has been sent to the Investigative Committee of Armenia to conduct an investigation.
