U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who paid a fact-finding visit to Kazan, Tatarstan, stated that, from now on, in executing the U.S. President’s order, including the ones dealing with Armenian-Turkish contacts, she will turn to the President of Tatarstan for advice.

The statement was made during Hillary Clinton’s meeting with President Mintimer Shaimiev at the Kazan Kremlin. The Tartar-info news agency reported that the U.S. Secretary of State considered it an honor to visit Kazan, stating the city “really shows that the Russian Federation is a multiethnic country made up of many constituent parts and has many different ethnic groups and faiths represented.” According to her, it is the result of President Shaimiev’s listening to different opinions, which is the best way of ruling the state.
