A solemn ceremony dedicated to the 20th anniversary of creation of Venice Commission For Democracy through Law will take place in Venice on June 5. The Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian Presidents, Serzh Sargsyan, Ilham Aliyev and Mikheil Saakashvili, have been invited to participate. Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland, PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu and other high ranking officials will be present.

Presently, constitutional reforms in Turkey is the key point on Venice Commission’s agenda, NEWS.am correspondent in Strasburg reports. The Commission welcomes Turkish authorities for their commitments to reform the constitution, Venice Commission President Gianni Buquicchio told journalists on Monday.

Gianni Buquicchio also stated that cooperation with Central Asian states is a priority for the commission. The advisory body intensively cooperates with the Kyrgyz interim government on a draft Constitution. Commission experts will participate in consultations in Kyrgyzstan in the near future.

The Venice Commission’s objective is to assist and advise individual countries in constitutional matters.
