The Head of the Armenian Association of Investigative Journalists Edik Baghdasaryan won “Free Press of Eastern Europe” award after Gerd Bucerius. The awards ceremony was held in Hamburg on May 19.
The prize fund made EUR 80.000 and was given to the 7 winners, Deutsche Welle reports. Among the prize winners were journalists from Azerbaijan, Belarus and Georgia.
Edik Baghdasaryan will return to Yerevan on May 21.
Gerd Bucerius was a German politician and journalist, one of the founding members of Die Zeit. Gerd Bucerius Prize “Free Press of Eastern Europe” has been given since 2000 to the representatives of mass media and individual journalists from Eastern Europe, who fight for free press, freedom of speech and the establishment of civil society.
