October 16, 2009 blast in one of the warehouses in Pallipat, southern India killed more than thirty people and wounded many others.

The victims were mainly customers buying fireworks to prepare for celebration of Indian national festival Deepavali, Associated Press reports referring to the Indian mass media.

According to ITAR-TASS, the short circuit caused the explosion. As the police clarified later safety standards were minimal in the warehouse.
