Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on his Twitter page that the daily increase in COVID-19 cases yesterday in the republic was 26,099, the highest since 24 November.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Health, 362,535 tests were carried out in the republic over the past 24 hours, 26,099 new COVID-19 cases were recorded and 157 people died.
Koca suggested that the increase of coronavirus cases in Turkey was due to the spread of the new omicron strain.
