According to preliminary data, the 6-year-old girl who was brought to the Austrian Child and Mother Hospital of Gyumri already dead was poisoned by carbon monoxide. Hovhannes Vardzelyan, the acting director of this medical center, told this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
"At home they tried to help the child, [then] the head of our intensive care unit at the hospital took resuscitation measures, after which the heartbeat was restored and the child was hooked up to a respirator. The child had not regained consciousness, there was only a heartbeat.
"The heartbeat was kept with the intervention of medicine. Even a consultation was carried out with the main specialists of the republic. But after 3 to 4 hours a heart stop was registered; the child was in fact in a critical condition," Vardzelyan said.
He added that according to reports, her mother had felt ill while bathing the child, and she had come out of the bath.
"They helped the mother, and then they found the child unconscious in the bath," Hovhannes Vardzelyan said.
