LIMASSOL. – It has a symbolic meaning that the Armenia vessel harbors in brotherly Cyprus after more than two years’ round-the-world voyage, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said in Lomassol, being on working visit in Cyprus.
Armenian and Cyprus Presidents were present at the solemn event on Thursday in Limassol. The event was devoted to the round-the-world voyage of the vessel. Armenian president made a speech.
“I am glad to state that the Armenia vessel after a two-year round-the-world voyage returned safely to Cyprus. It has a symbolic meaning that the vessel harbored in Cyprus. We are relative nations both in joy and grief. We condole for the explosion in naval base. Now I would like to turn to our navigators. Each of them is a strong-willed, dignified, brave and a true compatriot. Each of them compiles the picture of the Armenian people, who have overcome many difficulties without rebounding.
I was inspired by the idea of the head of the expedition Zori Balayan. The expedition carries the name of Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. It also has a symbolic meaning, which is to preserve our language, church, traditions and thus, the identity abroad.
I praise your work. You did a great job by collecting historic-cultural materials, making photos of Armenian churches, monuments, schools and ancient cemeteries in various Armenian communities around the world. The two voyages of the vessels Cilicia and Armenia return our nation historic remembrance of previous navigations made centuries ago,” the speech states.
