Azerbaijan intends to increase the number of peacemakers serving in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, Azerbaijani APA news agency reports, referring to the governmental source.

Presently, the documents to be further submitted to the Parliament are being elaborated.

Verbal agreement on Azerbaijani contingent increase in Afghanistan was reached in Bratislava at the last week meeting of NATO defense ministers and ISAF member states.

“According to the agreement, NATO will assume the expenses of the personnel and maintenance supply,” the daily reads.

Zahid Oruj, member of Azerbaijani Parliamentary Security and Defense Committee told APA that NATO addressed a request to Baku. According to him, the proposal should be introduced to the parliament by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
