YEREVAN. – Yerevan will host the Congress of International European Movement on the rising role of civil society within the frameworks of Eastern Partnership Program. It is scheduled for October 20-21. High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the European Union Catherine Ashton may possibly participate in the Congress.

The opening of the Congress will be at the Museum of Ancient Manuscripts - Matenadaran in Yerevan. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Chairman of European Movement of Armenia Gagik Tsarukyan will deliver speeches.

The Congress plans to form three working groups on three main directions. They will be raising the role of civil society within the program of Eastern Partnership, simplification the visa regime, and implementing the national reforms. Outcome and concrete offers of the program will be presented to the Armenian parliament.

Yerevan Declaration will be accepted based on the outcome of the Congress. It will offer how to raise the role of civil society in political processes among member-states of the Eastern partnership.
