YEREVAN. – Relations between Armenia and Romania need activation, Romanian Ambassador to Armenia Krina Rodix Prunariu said at a press conference on Friday.
The diplomat mentioned that Romania was one of the first states to recognize the independence of Armenia. Relations between two states date 600 years back, the first Armenian Church was built in Romania in 1401. The Ambassador also stated that Armenian community has contributed to life of Romania in various spheres and has its representatives in the Lower House (Chamber) of the Parliament.
Cultural and educational relations are developing between the two states, while economic relations are still to be developed. It is due to the lack of direct transportation and the world economic crisis. Armenia and Romani have a great potential in developing trade turnover in the Black Sea region.
Romania is for the stability in the South Caucasus and for the states to be closer to European values. In particular, it refers to democracy and political dialogue both inside the state and in the region. Stability serves for the development of economy in the state.
“Not to have new conflicts and to solve the existing one. This is the priority of EU in the region and Romania supports it,” the Ambassador stated.
