Armenia attaches great importance to furthering relations with United States, said President Serzh Sargsyan after the July 19 meeting with US Deputy Secretary James B. Steinberg, adding that his visit was treated in that particular context.

Sargsyan thanked US Government for the comprehensive assistance to Armenia since gaining independence, presidential press service reports. The sides expressed desire and readiness to cooperate in various fields, emphasizing special attention of US toward Armenian Diaspora as the link binding the two countries.

They touched upon the regional security issues, Armenian-Turkish relations and settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) conflict. Mr Steinberg passed President Serzh Sargsyan the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s message, but the presidential press service has not disclosed it.
