The USA and Russia are holding totally diverse positions on the Nagorno-Karabakh problem and have failed to draw them closer, Marko Papic, analyst for the STRATFOR intelligence agency, told NEWS.am.

The Barack Obama administration is incapable of coping with the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Moreover, the difference between the USA and Russia positions on this matter is that Washington is reluctant to interfere, while Moscow feels comfortable, taking advantage of the conflict to make itself indispensable to both Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is a zero-risk situation for Russia, the expert said.

Speaking of Barack Obama’s recent visit to Moscow, Papic pointed out that it is unclear whether it was a new start to the Russia-US relations or not. It is also unclear whether the sides reached an agreement on the paramount, as the deployment of ABM elements in Poland and Czech Republic is, Papic added.
