Azerbaijani office of the International Republican Institute (IRI) completes its activities, IRI Baku office head Jake Johns told in the course of the meeting with Musavat Party leader Isa Gambar.

According to Azerbaijani APA news agency, the office will close on November 30, 2009. Gambar expressed regret and considered office “should continue functioning for strengthening US-Azerbaijan relations and solving the problems concerning democracy and freedom,” APA reads.

The IRI has been functioning in Azerbaijan since 1998. The office aimed at intensification of political dialogue while cooperating with political parties on various matters. The organization rendered assistance to political parties directed to the organization skills' development, meanwhile facilitating Baku-regions contacts.
