On Tuesday, Serbian leader Radovan Karadzic appeared at the trial for crime committed during war in Bosnia, The New York Times reports, referring to Reuters.

“I don't want to boycott these proceedings but I cannot take part in something that has been bad from the start,” said Karadzic. “The situation is such that I would really be a criminal if I were to accept these conditions.”

Former Serb leader claims he is not guilty. The accused says he needs more time to prepare for the trial as he defends himself.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, the trial on the case of Radovan Karadzic was due October 26 in The Hague. However, he has not appeared in the Court. Karadzic faces life imprisonment on 11 counts of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity for his actions during an inter-ethnic war that claimed an estimated 100,000 lives after the break-up of Yugoslavia.
