On November 9, Germany and the whole Europe celebrate the 20th anniversary since the Berlin Wall was brought down. This day in 1989, the East and West Germany united and Europe gained its completeness. This became possible due to efforts of Mikhail Gorbachev, First Soviet President, and Hans-Dietrich Genscher, the then West German Foreign Minister.

Chancellor Angela Merkel will be host to RF President Dmitry Medvedev, President of France Nicolas Sarkozy, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and U.K. Prime Minister who arrive at the historic site today.

According to MailOnline e-source “the £7m party” is expected to be “the biggest state-funded celebration Europe has seen for decades.”

Over 1,000 featured giant dominos will topple between the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz symbolizing the fall of the original wall.

The Berlin Wall was built in 1961 deviding the West from the Soviet Union.
