New US President Donald Trump has handed his special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, the job of ending the Ukraine war in a hundred days. Almost no one thinks he can do it, reports The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

In his assessment, making a respective deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin will be a much more difficult task than Trump imagined during his election campaign, when he said that he would end the conflict before assuming the position of the head of state.

According to WSJ sources, the new US president intends to personally oversee the negotiation process regarding Ukraine.

The WSJ interlocutors—who are former colleagues of Kellogg—claim that he cannot be called an independent figure because he is completely dependent on Trump's opinion. And that is why Kellogg allegedly will not be allowed to conduct any real negotiations between the US and Russia.
