YEREVAN. – The Armenian State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition (ASCPEC) is pressured neither by businessman MP Samvel Aleksanyan, nor by any other businessman who holds a dominant position in the market, ASCPEC Chairman Artak Shaboyan said during a press conference on Wednesday. 

To note, MP Samvel Aleksanyan is the proprietor of the Alex Grig Company, and the latter holds a dominant position in several markets. In 2011 alone, ASCPEC fined Alex Grig ten times—and primarily for illegally imitating, or using, the brands of other companies in the vodka production market—but these fines were appealed with the courts.    

Artak Shaboyan assured, however, that all the appeals were ruled in favor of the Commission, and that the latter has currently petitioned the court to carry out the rulings. “And if Alex Grig still does not remove these vodkas after this, the Commission shall take appropriate steps,” Artak Shaboyan stated.
