MOSCOW. – The Pacific Ocean island country of Samoa decided to skip one day in the calendar. So, after December 29 the Samoans will jump directly to December 31.  

December 30 was removed from the calendar for economic considerations. Because of time the difference, Samoa is unable to fully cooperate with its main partners: New Zealand, Australia, and Asian countries, ITAR-TASS News Agency informs.    

Therefore, by changing the time, Samoa will now be one of the first countries to welcome the New Year. Before, however, Samoa was the last country to welcome the year’s last sunset.
