MOSCOW. - In parallel with New Year spending and problems, the scientists also warn about a magnetic storm, as a solar explosion was registered recently ,and it could add health hazards to the festive joy.  

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) informed that huge explosions occurred Monday on the Sun.  

The resultant plasma particles will reach Earth on Wednesday, and the impact could temporarily disrupt global positioning systems (GPS), wireless communication, and electricity grids. G1-class magnetic storms are expected on Wednesday and Thursday.      

To note, the next most active such period will be in 2013.
