Iran's Supreme Leader has appointed Habibollah Sayyari as acting Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Ahmad Vahidi as Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Nour News reports.
"By the Supreme Leader's decree, Habibollah Sayyari was appointed Acting Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and General Vahidi as Commander of the IRGC," the respective statement said.
Sayyari previously served as deputy commander of the Iranian army.
Earlier, Iranian state television reported the death of Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, in the Israeli strikes.
And the IRGC had confirmed the death of their commander, Hossein Salami, also as a result of these Israeli strikes.
