Settling the Nagorno-Karabakh problem in Azerbaijan’s interests requires eve closer relations with Russia, Gudrat Gasanghuliyev, Chairman of the Popular Front of Indivisible Azerbaijan, stated at the Azerbaijani Parliament. According to him, to settle the conflict Azerbaijan can join the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).

“I think that, by making this step we can get Russia to influence Armenia’s position. And, if necessary, we can agree to the deployment of a Russian military base in Azerbaijan,” he said. At the sitting, parliamentarians proposed that the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister report on the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process to the Parliament.

Fazil Mustafa, Chairman of the Great Upbuilding Party, stated that the parties represented in the Azerbaijani Parliament must be well informed of the developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. He proposed holding closed hearings of the negotiation process with the participation of the Parliament leadership, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Ministers.
